The Astiazaran family, owner of the Iruin cider house in Zubieta, has been homaged by the Association Of Cider Houses of Gipuzkoa in the period of Sagardo Eguna celebrated in the Constitution square of San Sebastian.
The extensive trajectory dedicated to the production of natural cider by Joxe Ignacio Astiazaran and his wife, Isabel Díaz, has made his work recognized in an emotional homage before the eyes of hundreds of people. The president of the Association of Cider Houses of Gipuzkoa was responsible for the delivery of a pin and a bouquet of flowers as a gift to every member of the family, including the childrens, Ion and Mikel Astiazaran, who follow the path of the production of the cider and who managed the cider house of Zubieta.
The Astiazaran family collected the gift with a great emotion and Joxe Ignacio Astiazaran thanked the recognition declaring what “nice is to receive a homage like this from the hands of cider producers with more experience even than yours”. After more than 45 years dedicated to the production of the cider, the heart of Astiazaran will remain attached to the sector but “leaving the new generations to follow the path”.
